Penelope Ford Impresses in AEW Return as Tommy Dreamer Predicts Breakout Potential

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm has continued her dominant run in recent Eliminator Matches, while one of her recent challengers is gaining recognition for her improved in-ring performances.

On a recent episode of “Busted Open After Dark,” ECW legend Tommy Dreamer singled out Penelope Ford for praise. Ford returned to AEW television in October after nearly two years away and has since caught the attention of fans and veterans alike.

“I will praise Penelope Ford again. Every time I watch her, that woman improves,” Dreamer stated. “I really, really enjoy her. She’s giving me Liv Morgan vibes. She just needs to piece a couple of things together and that woman could be a mega star within the industry. Super athletic, just really has improved every single time I see her. I really enjoy watching her work.

“Her and Megan Bayne together are one thing, but if she ever turns on Megan Bayne, or if you see what Liv and Raquel [Rodriguez] are doing in WWE, it was kind of special,” Dreamer added. “Penelope Ford gives me those vibes. Also, her suplex on her tippy toes, the last person I see do that female-wise was Alicia Fox. That’s how it’s supposed to be done.”

Since making her return, Ford has become a steady presence on AEW programming, bolstered by her alliance with Megan Bayne. On the most recent episode of “AEW Dynamite,” she competed against Toni Storm, Anna Jay, and Thunder Rosa in a four-way Elimination Match. Storm ultimately secured the win, aided by outside interference from Bayne and Harley Cameron.

The pairing of Ford and Bayne has drawn comparisons to the WWE duo of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, and even to the classic 1990s team of Shawn Michaels and Diesel, with Ford embodying the scrappy, agile role akin to Michaels and Morgan.
