Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Undergoes Heart Ablation Surgery

WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts was scheduled to undergo heart ablation surgery this morning, May 13, 2025. The news was shared by his wife, Cheryl Roberts, through social media, as she called on the wrestling community for support.

In an Instagram post, Cheryl wrote: “Jake’s going in for heart ablation surgery this morning. Calling all prayer warriors, good vibes, and well wishes are welcomed & appreciated. @jakethesnakeddt.” Heart ablation is a medical procedure typically used to treat heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias).

At 69, Roberts is a revered figure in the world of professional wrestling, known for his chillingly cerebral promos, his masterful ring psychology, and for creating the iconic DDT finishing move.

He rose to fame in WWE (then WWF) during the 1980s and early 1990s, captivating audiences with his dark and mysterious persona, often accompanied to the ring by his python, Damien.

His unforgettable feuds with legends like Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Andre the Giant, and The Undertaker cemented his legendary status and influenced countless wrestlers. Roberts was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.

Over the years, Roberts has faced numerous health challenges, including well-documented struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, from which he made an extraordinary recovery, often crediting Diamond Dallas Page and DDP Yoga for his turnaround.

He has also battled cancer scares and other ailments that required medical treatments.

More recently, Roberts has stayed involved in the wrestling industry, notably appearing in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a manager, most famously for Lance Archer, where his sharp wit and presence continued to captivate fans.

We extend our best wishes to Jake “The Snake” Roberts for a successful surgery and a quick, full recovery.
