AEW is set to honor the late Steve “Mongo” McMichael during the upcoming “AEW Collision: Beach Break,” with WWE Hall of Famer and McMichael’s longtime friend Ric Flair confirmed to be in attendance. McMichael, a former professional football player turned pro wrestler, passed away in April at the age of 67 after a lengthy battle with ALS.
The tribute segment was announced on this week’s episode of “Collision” and is scheduled to air during the April 17 broadcast, which will be taped in Chicago on April 14 — the same night as “AEW Dynamite.” Flair, who shared the ring and locker room with McMichael as a fellow member of The Four Horsemen in WCW, will appear at the event to pay tribute.

After McMichael’s passing, Flair praised his friend on social media, describing him as both an exceptional athlete and an amazing person. McMichael made the leap to professional wrestling following his NFL Hall of Fame career, competing in WCW between 1995 and 1999.
While this week’s “Collision” aired live on Thursday, April 8, the show will return to its regular Saturday night time slot next week. In addition to the McMichael tribute, the upcoming “Collision” will also include a match between Anna Jay and Megan Bayne.
